We set off for New York City, had a flawless drive and arrived in the Bronx by the afternoon. We were so lucky that our friend Alex was our tour guide. We know Alex from when we lived in Fairfield, CT but he now lives down with us in Charlotte. He went home, kicked his mom out of her apartment and was our host for 3 days. Nothing better than a real New Yorker to show you around. Our first stop was the subway. Of course, public transportation is always one of the highlights of the trips. Ask the kids what they loved...the subway!
We hit Rockefeller Center and the Lego store there. We decided we were already spoiled with our own Lego store. We loved the Lego Rockefeller Center and the huge dragon. We also picked up a Lego yellow cab and Lego Statue of Liberty...only available at the NY store.
We then headed to the MOMA because it was free night!!! Wahoo! The museums are pretty expensive so we tried to get in on all of the free stuff we could. It was pretty crowded (although Alex thought it wasn't too bad, different perspective) but the kids had a great time. They got to see all of the artists they had studied in school this past year and some extras!
Another big hit...looking out a window from way up high. They thought this was soooo cool.
Declan's favorite artist is Jackson Pollock so he was thrilled to get to see one up close. Of course, we got reprimanded by the guards for being too close!
Below was one of our non favorites. 3 basketballs in a fish tank. By some famous artist. Why? Keith Haring in the background.
We have lots of subway pictures.
We stopped for a bite of pizza at Alex's favorite pizza place...right before we went to eat in a real NY city diner. Yummm...food.
