New York City Day 2 Empire State Building

Our view from our "hotel" in the Bronx!
The view was great...a high school football field, the Harlem River and Columbia University's athletic fields.  We watched some great soccer games on the football fields and it was cool to see the crew teams out rowing in the morning.

This time we took the train in.  Declan really wanted to go into Grand Central Station.

And here we are in Grand Central.

We curiously looked at this little statue through a window.  Rich tried to take a picture through the window when the people inside waved us in.  It is in a hotel called The Library.  Very cool lobby, small but with card catalogs and books everywhere.  People are nice even in NYC.

We went by the library...next time we'll go in.

On our way to the Empire State Building....
We thought it was humorous that they just ripped off the bottom of our tickets.  Real official like.

Our views from the 86th floor...

 And then the 102nd....

The Freedom Tower...remarkably the kids didn't ask about The Freedom Tower.  They really don't know about 9-11 and we will try to keep it that way for awhile longer.  They need to know the world is safe and good.  The rest will come.  Declan had read some things about the tower but somehow just let it pass by.  Next time we hope to see the memorial.
And our next meal...this was a great burger.  We had a nice lunch with Alex' mom (who vacated her apt for us...so wonderful) and her friend.
And then off to our next stop...Declan's souvenirs on this trip consisted of maps.  He was our navigator everywhere we went and got to know the subways well.
