New York City Day 3

Our third day was another great one...and we got to spend the day with Tamrat and Mary Lisa.  Tamrat and Terefech were together in Ethiopia.  They just so happen to live in NYC so we hung with them.  Our goal this day was many fold.  Statue of Liberty, taxi ride (very high up on the kids' list of things to do) and Babycakes (I will explain).
You aren't able to go up in the Statue of Liberty right now so we decided to take the Staten Island ferry round trip...it was a great ride.
Another view of the Freedom Tower.
We were lucky enough to get rail side for the ride out to Staten Island.  It does help to have Alex with you.  I was just enjoying the ride and then turned around to see throngs of people behind us just trying to get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty.  Rich was amazed that we were among the few people speaking English.  All of these people from all over the world were just clamoring to see her!

We had a stroke of luck in that our ferry needed to be serviced.  So we had to get off in Staten Island and wait for another ferry.  You may not call that a stroke of luck but when you are with a kid who wants to visit all the boroughs...that is what it is!

 Taxi ride...check.
 Brooklyn Bridge
Babycakes....ahhhhhh.  A vegan bakery I wanted to hit.  Delicious donuts and cupcakes (among a million other things) that are gluten free that I can eat.  I don't miss bread, desserts, etc. that often anymore, just the way it is.  But a donut from these ladies is heaven!
